When I Knew The Way
The first time I heard you
The song I didn’t know
A Voice like an angel
Pure as the morning snow
A beautiful girl, In an exquisite world
A glorious place, With no destructive space
The day, when I knew the way
And the things that made you smile
We played every town
From Nashville to Birmingham
We filled every theatre
And let the world be damned
We shared every room, and stared at the moon
We laughed and we cried, as though we both were high
The day, when I knew the way
And the things that made you smile
La, de da …
As we travelled on
The silence grew more and more
You had friends all around
I put my fist through the door
I got on a bus, and thought about us
You played the next date, and put it down to fate
The day when I lost my way
And would never see you smile
La de da…
Now time has missed
The smile on your lips
The way that we kissed
That made the best memories
The day, when I knew the way
And the things that made you smile
And now you are gone
Because I was never wrong
And I sing alone to every sad, sad song
I forever miss, The smile on your lips
The way that we kiss,
That make the best memories
The day when I knew the way
And the things that made you smile .
New Horizons
She hoped for wings to take her
Far above the clouds
The thought of new horizons
Destroying the sounds
That chilled her
She dreamed of wings to take her very far away from here
Just Flying , and gliding
She wished that life held more for her than overcoming fear
And lying, so frightening
No-one in her life was ever going to come to help
She’d waited, and waited
She tried so hard to find someone that she could trust to tell
But couldn’t, she should have
She hoped her wings would take her
Far above the clouds
The thought of new horizons
Destroying the sounds
That chilled her
She would never come to rest and place her feet on land
Soaring, and exploring
Never again to live or die buy someone else’s hand
A new chance , Renaissance
She dreamed of wings to take her somewhere far away from here
Flying, just flying
She understood her body now was finally out of tears
Crying, and crying
She hoped her wings would take her
Far above the clouds
The thought of new horizons
Destroying the sounds
That Killed her
She had her wings to take her
Far above the clouds
Her view of new horizons
Destroying the sounds

Everyone Lives
Every man can find a soulmate
Every man can fight his fight
Every man will die on someday
Byt not everyone lives
The road your on is risky
The road your on is wild
Taking each examination
With the freedom of a child
The highs and lows of fortune
The push and pull of love
Each end of the candle burning
A life to be proud of
A view of the past
A glass of memories that are filled with regret
A life unsurpassed
Accelerating, toward your sunset
Listen to the voice inside you
Ignore the sell by date
Open every door you come to
Take a leap of faith
Sing your song at boundless measure
Raise the roof and bark and roar
Searching for the greatest pleasure
Keep asking for more
Waiting for the final judgement
Standing there in Shangri-La
Can you justify your actions
Collide with the devils jaw
Everyman can find a soulmate
Everyman man can fight his fight
Everyman will die on someday
But not everyone lives
Only the Lonely can be Free
Only the lonely can be free
Only the solitary man can be
Bearing no burden, they are not laden
No-one to battle, No signs of struggle
They’re liberated, Independence located
Only the lonely can be free
A quiet place, a quiet space
No-one at all, watching him
His conscience clear
Nothing to fear
No guilty mind, destroying him
Only the lonely can be free
Only the solitary man can be
Bearing no burden, they are not laden
No-one to battle
No signs of struggle
They’re liberated, Independence located
Only the lonely can be free
He thinks of her, his thoughts transfer
The joy they shared, on golden days
A summer missed, a tender kiss
A secret wish, to be castaway
He lays alone, his lover gone
A shaft of light, piercing him
He lies and waits, contemplates
The lights of life, glowing dim
Only the lonely can be free
Only the solitary man can be
Bearing no burden, they are not laden
No-one to battle, No signs of struggle
They’re liberated, Independence located
Only the lonely can be free
A quiet place, a quiet space
No thoughts disturbed, in his tranquil mind
Only the lonely can be free
Only the solitary man can be
Bearing no burden, they are not laden
No-one to battle, No signs of struggle
They’re liberated, Independence located
Only the lonely can be free x2
A Little of Tomorrow
A Little of Tomorrow
Can make up for yesterday
Just to know that there’s someone there for you
So, you’re not castaway
Let me take your hand
I don’t need to understand
Why you feel the way you’re feeling now
In the sinking sand
Do you know where to find me
I’m always here by your side
I can sit in the silence with you
Until your tears have dried
Every lingering thought every memory
Destroying who you are and who you’re meant to be
You can share what you want
Cause all this time now is ours
When the night is at its darkest hour
You can see the stars
A little of tomorrow
Can make up for yesterday
Just to know that there’s someone there for you
So, you’re not castaway
A little of tomorrow
Can make up for yesterday
Just to know that there’s someone there for you
So, you’re not castaway

I Hear Her Singing
Every morning, hearing my name
Each speck of daylight, feeling the same
And I hear her singing
Never knowing what I will find
Images growing, destroying my mind
And I hear her singing
Always pretending things are okay
People around me don’t know what to say
And I hear her singing
Can I struggle, go on and on
I’m in trouble, not there for my son
And I hear her singing
I hear her singing
Hearing footsteps climbing the stairs
My eyes are hiding, concealing the tears
And I hear her singing
Will I answer, will I fall
Faking emotions, can’t tell her so
But I hear her singing
Filling the silence with moments of joy
My resolution, My Helen of Troy
And I hear her singing
Sun is shining, here in my heart
Maybe saying, it’s my time to start
And I hear you singing
Steadily beating the demons of hell
Hades has fallen, it’s easy to tell
And I hear you singing
Every morning, hearing my name
Each speck of daylight, feeling the same
And I hear her singing
I hear her singing

Don't Take Me For a Fool
Take the house that we called home
Take the TV, take the phone
Take my heart and take my soul B
ut don’t take me for a fool
Take the car that we both chose
I’ll find another I suppose
Take your time, take some of mine
But don’t take me for a fool
I’ll get over you
Now I know that we are through
I’m moving on, I’ve shed my load
You can only lose just what you cling to
You can only lose just what you cling to
Take the ring that I put on
Take the boy I still call son
Take my money for all time
But don’t take me for a fool
Take a seat or take a knee
In a moment you’ll be free
Listen well, it’s been hell
Don’t take me for a fool
I’ll get over you
Now I know that we are through
I’m moving on, I’ve shed my load
You can only lose just what you cling to
You can only lose just what you cling to
Take the A-Train, take a cab
Do me a favour don’t look back
Take a break for both our sakes
But don’t take me for a fool
Take the pictures off the wall
Take the carpet from the hall
All the higher ground is yours
Don’t take me for a fool
You told me that your now alone
But I have heard you on the phone
Three’s a crowd, it’s not allowed
Don’t take me for a fool
51 Years
51 years to figure it out
Rivers of tears to figure it out
Why did it take so long?
Working out the right from wrong woohoo
Love and Affection filling my nights
Liberal views but turn out the lights
Seeking out just one to love
Needing help, Heavens Above Woohoo!
And Oh, Oh Oh all of this matters
Oh! Oh! Oh! When your life’s in tatters
Take any job just to pay the rent
Too much month when the money’s spent
Put on the suit of a Government man
Seemed to me to be the grown-up plan woohoo
Troubled by the bills that I’ve got to pay
Hoping the stress would just go away
Made a plan just to trust to luck
Decided not to give a damn woohoo
Saluting every magpie across the street
Missing out the cracks underneath my feet
Make a wish with your fingers crossed
Quite a high operating cost woohoo
And oh, oh! Oh! Knock on wood
Oh! Oh! Oh! Will do you no good
51 years to figure it out
Appreciating what life’s all about
Spending time with the ones you love
Don’t give a damn about the push and shove woohoo
And Oh! Oh! Oh! Let sleeping dogs lay
And Oh! Oh! Oh! Just live for today, today, today
New Way of Living
This game is getting me down
Don’t wanna play anymore
You keep on changing the rules
You keep on closing the door
And I
Have a new way of living
I
Have a new beginning
Don’t tell me that I should care
Don’t say there’s no other choice
I know that life is unfair
I’ve shut out all of that noise
And I
Have a new way of living
I
Have a new beginning
Can’t see the wood for the trees
Can’t see the truth of it all
A clearer view appears
I’m running now from a crawl
How can I live without fear?
Not caring if I should fall
Now I am free from this game
I’ve taken my curtain call
And I
Have a new way of living
I
Have a new beginning
My soul is yearning to fly
My body’s ready to run
I have a new game to play
This time I’ve already won
And I
Have a new way of living
I
I have a new beginning
The Other Side of Town
On one side of town
There are streets lined with Elm trees
And the smell of mothers cooking
Drifts to every little schoolboy
On the other side of town
Mary looks in every cupboard
Searching for a second time
For something that will ease her hunger pain
There is no escape
From the chains that link to bind her
To the life that will define her
Longing for a life on the other side of town
On one side of town
The kids go trampolining
Whilst the mums and dads
Discuss the latest recipes, and skiing
On the other side of town
Mary stands outside the Rose and Crown
Hoping that her dad will see her
Feeling guilty, give a pound or two
There is no escape
From the chains that link to bind her
To the life that will define her
Longing for a life on the other side of town
On one side of the town
Children tucked in warmly
Whilst holding on to Eye-aw
And father singing softly
On the other side of town
Mary stares through the dirty window
In the room she has to sleep in
But the cold will keep her shivering through the night
There is no escape
From the chains that link to bind her
To the life that will define her
Longing for a life on the other side of town
There is no escape
From the chains that link to bind her
To the life that will define her
Longing for a life on the other side of town
On the other side of town x2
Been Here Now
All through the years gone by
All through the years that I
Have spent a life that without you
I just Can’t imagine I’d have been here now
Looking back
When you and I were strangers at the dance
The do or die beginnings of a faraway romance
I had to go
A kiss goodbye, a promise soft and low
Waving from a window to the sea of streets below
All through the years gone
by All through the years that I
Have spent a life that without you
I just Can’t imagine I’d have been here now
From two to three
A cottage full of love and full of joy
A blessing sent from heaven in the image of a boy
Travelling on
Landscape changing each and every year
Taking on the battles through the worries and the fear
All through the years gone by
All through the years that I
Have spent a life that without you
I just Can’t imagine I’d have been here now
Not far to go
Still holding hands together down the road
Comforting, alleviating, sharing every load
Looking back
Bravely asking for a maiden’s name
A dress of pink and tinselled hair of colour just the same
The castle walls
Starting on a journey meant to last
Images from memories of the deep and distant past
All through the years gone by
All through the years that I
Have spent a life that without you
I just Can’t imagine I’d have been here now Been hear now
Been here now
Leave Me Alone
I feel like I have to share my mind
Tomorrow who knows what you will find
Listen to me
You are constantly banging on my door
Ignoring the rich but not the poor
Leave me alone
Why do you kick me all the time
Trying to take what once was mine
Leave me alone
My whole life is just 10 feet away
Nothing more that I need
I don’t want to read the signs that they parade
Leave me here in my dream
In my dream
Think less of the means and more the ends
Stop sharing it all with your posh friends
Leave me alone
I just have enough to pay my dues
There is nothing more that I can lose
Leave me alone
I am content with what I own
I’m staying here in my timezone
Leave me alone
My guiding light is getting dimmer every day
I don’t see much anyway
I couldn’t care less what the world has to say
All I need is right here
Is right here
How far are you willing now to go
Whilst all of my ducks are in a row
Leave me alone
I know the man that is down will fear no fall
You can’t take away from nothing at all
Leave me alone
Another World
The sky has changed a million times
Clouds have come and gone
My phone is saying a million friends
I can only think of one x2
The Road has seen a million cars
Maybe millions more
I thought I knew my own direction
I only think of home x2
Take me to another world
Where you and I are not disturbed
Nobody knows where we are
The world has lost a million souls
Millions more will fall
I tried to save them one by one
I couldn’t free them all x2
Winters here
And yet our leaves are green
Laying in the verdant forest
We cannot be seen x2
Take me to another world
Where you and I cannot be heard
My every breath is tangled in you x2
My life has seen a million heartaches
A million teardrops too
Now the thick dense fog has lifted
I only think of you x2
The sky has changed a million times
Clouds have come and gone
Heading in the same direction
We can journey on x2
I Cried
I cried
When I heard them call him names
When I saw they had no shame
When I saw it all was planned
I knew they’d never understand
I cried….x4
I cried
when I saw them raise their hands
And when they laughed and jeered
The line has gone from the sand
And hatred re-appeared
I thought
the children of today
Travelled in a different way
There was no division now
But we’re back to yesterday
I thought now the world was better
That the world was good
I hoped the game we played together
Meant that we all understood
I know that this is not all over
There is more to come
We are not interred in clover
While they bang their hatred drum
I cried…
You Deserve More Than Me
Time in the Sun When Summer is done
Free to do as you please
Life of a queen
The richest you’ve seen
You deserve more than me
A room full of shoes
Impossible to choose
Before the driver arrives with your car
A dress by design
Would suit you just fine
For any occasion or affair
A long limousine
The sleekest machine
Never needing to open the door
A seat by the stage
To see the greats of the age
Before you outshine them all on the floor
I can give you these words, and others you’ve heard
That tell you how much I care
I’ve thought of this tune, but instead of the moon
All that I have you can share
A villa in France
Filled with joy and romance
With a sunset to grace any day
To sail down the Nile
And stare for a while
At the wonders the world can convey
I can give you these words, and others you’ve heard
That tell you how much I care
I’ve thought of this tune, but instead of the moon
All that I have you can share
Time in the Sun When summer is done
You deserve more than me
He Lived Alone
He Lived alone
But it wasn’t always so
They both had friends who’d come and go
The music soared
Each evening roared
But that’s before he lived alone
She missed him so
When his coat hung at the door
Getting home just after four
He’d say ‘just fine’
Uncork the wine
That was before she missed him so
Sooner or later it would fall apart
They knew that good couldn’t last for long
His straying eyes would crush her trusting heart
And she could never be that strong
He felt ashamed
But he was all to blame
He thought that it was just a game
But now he’d lost
And paid the cost
But still he felt ashamed
She found it hard
To start again behind a guard
Hoping to turn a friendly card
Most nights alone
A silent phone
Now she found it hard
But time and again she’d thought of calling him
She never knew that he felt the same
Deep in her heart she’d not forgiven him
But being alone was so insane
He lived alone
The house became a love free zone
She’d never once picked up the phone
His tears ran dry
She’d met a guy
And still he lived alone
I Have an Angel
I have an Angel and she’s sitting next to me
She’s there beside me, waiting patiently
I have an Angel and she’s smiling back at me
I know for certain, where she is, I have to be
At times it feels like your alone
Facebook friends and Instagram
No likes or smiling faces
As you watch the colours fade
I have an Angel and she’s sitting next to me
The sound of her voice can ease and comfort me
I have an angel and she’s smiling back at me
Quiet tender kisses she places on my cheek
Coffee shop people everywhere
Staring blindly into space
Lovers deep in to embrace
Constant chatter fills the air
I have an Angel and she’s sitting next to me
Never judging, she listens patiently
I have an Angel and she’s smiling back at me
I know for certain where she is, I have to be
When you feel like you’re alone
The world is winning
The sinking stone keeps sinking
There’s an Angel there for you
Look beside you and see for sure
I have an Angel and she’s sitting next to me
She’s there beside me, waiting patiently
I have an Angel and she’s smiling back at me
I know for certain, where she is, I have to be

Sandals in the Rain
I saw her sitting all alone
In the dress she wore the night before
No-one to help, no-one to phone
A far of look, towards the shore
She never knew where she came from
No loving home to call her own
The other kids would call her dumb
The hurt she felt was not well known
No tears to cry, she feels no pain
She's wearing sandals in the rain
A string of heartaches followed on
While she searched for who knows what
Self-respect had been and gone
With her last Sir Lancelot
She walked along the empty pier
Not looking at the warning sign
Feeling numb not feeling fear
Crossing her last battle line
No tears to cry, she feels no pain
She's wering sandals in the rain
A single shoe washed on the sand
A single girl that no-one knew
No-one wants to understand
No policeman looking for a clue
The Preacher speaks but no-one hears
The clouds have gone, a new beginning
Another girl sits on the pier
Why is she waiting, what is she thinking?
No tears to cry, she feels no pain
She's wearing sandals in the rain
