On stage from the age of 7, I was involved in music and theatre until the age of 37, when family took me away from performing and towards a new career.
I puposefully discarded all music from my life and went headlong into my new role within the Prison Service. Working with some of the most dangerous prisoners in the country I relocated a number of times and finally settled in Cumbria.
I turned to songwriting in July 2019 and have been writing prolifically since. This has given me a new lease of life.
In the past I have played all kinds of music. As a trombonist I was into Don Lusher and the the whole dance band era, but singing was always my forte. I had piano lessons and picked up the guitar, singing in church. I performed in a choir and countless musical theatre productions, a Music Hall show and cabaret, learning my trade around the North West club circuit from the age of 19.
I played country music for almost 10 years, winning Linedancer Magazine's Artist of the Year for two years running and recorded many albums, with two top ten singles on the European Playlist charts[Country Music].
I was also asked to sing on a number of compilation linedance albums and enjoyed the experience of playing with some world class musicians.
The most important thing to me now is my family, and I write music to say how I feel and how much I love them. I am also a great advocate of music therapy to support poor mental health and you will find some songs linked to just that.
I perform my songs sporadically and am really looking for people to breathe more life into the music.
